Cockatoo Valley crash claims woman’s life

Williamstown woman, Mrs Lynne Bain aged 48, died on Saturday following a serious crash at Cockatoo Valley on Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to Balmoral Road just before 1 p.m. after a Commodore sedan and a Landcruiser 4WD collided on a bend.

The driver of the 4WD from Onkaparinga Hills and the woman were airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Within minutes of this crash, crews were also called to a crash on Barossa Valley Way, Lyndoch where a car hit a large tree.

A McDonald Park man in his 20s was airlifted from the scene to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with critical head injuries.

Barossa Police Senior Sergeant Martin Kennedy said wet roads appeared to be a contributing factor in both crashes.

“Initial indicators are that wet roads had a part to play in both and they were reported five minutes apart,” said Snr. Sgt. Kennedy.
