Tanunda’s poultry shed to be demolished

The poultry shed at the Tanunda Recreation Park will be demolished after next month’s Tanunda Show and will make way for a purpose built men’s shed.

Barossa elected members agreed at last week’s meeting to authorise the demolition of the existing pigeon shed and for a planning application to be made for the men’s shed on this site.

Council will now have ongoing discussions with the Tanunda Recreation Park Committee and the Tanunda Show Committee for the provision of future pigeon exhibitions.

In August, Council agreed to provide in-principle support to develop the Leisure Options Men’s Shed on the Tanunda Pool site subject to an asset management group assessment; subsequent approval from council and confirmation of external funds and in-kind support to provide for the total project costs.

It was agreed that following the decommissioning of the swimming pool, the remainder of the site would be retained for general access parkland and other uses of the site would be considered in due course.
