Mrs Mary Plush, Citizen of the Year

Community Minister, Mary Plush has made an outstanding contribution to the Barossa community through her unfailing and humble service to people from all walks of life.

As lay preacher with the Uniting Church and also an ordained Community Minister, Mary has carried out her duties with compassion, diligence and a sense of humour.

She has been a chaplain to staff and residents at Barossa Village for over 10 years, a volunteer with Carers Link and a longstanding supporter of Barossa Leisure Options.

For almost a decade Mary and her family have foregone their own Christmas celebrations to host Christmas dinner with all the trimmings for people in the community who are socially isolated.
