Barossa heats up

Today will be a relief for those sweltering in the heat earlier this week, but it will be short-lived, with temperatures set to creep up again over the next couple of days.

CFS and police warned residents to stay safe after the region’s weather reached more than 40 degrees at the beginning of the week.

Northern Barossa Group Officer, Mr Kym Haebich’s advice to those in the region was to tune in to radio with fire updates or websites with fire information.

“There is plenty of information available about when fires start and what to do,” Mr Haebich said.

Mr Haebich encouraged all residents to have a fire plan in place during the hot weather.

Police across the state patrolled areas at risk of fire and residents were encouraged to call in any information about people acting suspicious.

Grape harvesting has been affected by the hot weather, with head of Grape Barossa, Mr Adrian Hoffmann saying berries in the region are starting to colour early.
